Lessons
Voice
As both a singer and a voice teacher, the most important lesson I've learned is that singing is a skill—not a talent. Once the voice is organized and working efficiently, anyone can learn to sing in a variety of styles.
I know this from personal experience. When I began studying Vocal Performance at NYU, I couldn't even mix. Through years of training in voice/voice pedagogy, song analysis/performance, music theory, and aural skills, I developed a healthy, versatile technique that now allows me to belt up to a G5 and whistle up to an E♭6. That training has led to opportunities performing Off-Broadway and throughout New York City, and I'm passionate about sharing what I've learned with others.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in a holistic approach to the voice. We begin by organizing your instrument through healthy vocal exercises and then transfer those skills directly into your repertoire, creating a technique that is both sustainable and expressive. My goal is to help you build a voice that is healthy, reliable, and capable of supporting the music you love to sing.
Most importantly, I believe the student knows their voice best because they're the only person living inside their body. I can offer guidance based on what I see and hear, but only you can tell me how something feels. Together, we'll discover what works best for your unique voice and build a technique that makes singing feel free, healthy, and fun.
Acting
As someone who has trained in the Stella Adler Enhanced Program, Meisner, Stanislavski, Dramatic Circumstances, and a variety of other acting techniques, the biggest lesson I've learned is that a versatile toolbox creates a versatile actor. No two characters (or performances) require exactly the same approach.
I love working with actors who are curious, collaborative, and willing to try something new. The "shoulds" we place on our work are often the greatest obstacle to living truthfully in the moment.
My personal process for approaching a character generally begins with three steps:
Reading and studying the clues provided in the text.
Defining the character's objectives and relationships.
Meditating on the role and discovering how the character resonates physically within my own body.
While these three pillars remain consistent, the details and techniques within each step vary depending on the character. Every role deserves an individualized approach.
Whether you're preparing a monologue, a scene, or a full-length play, we'll work together to build a process that helps both you and your character feel grounded, authentic, and fully at home in your body.
Acting Through Song
Wait... now you're telling me I have to put the two skills together?
Yes. Yes, I am.
Singing while telling a compelling story is a fine art. It's an essential skill for musical theatre performers and an invaluable one for any singing actor. Great performances happen when strong vocal technique and truthful storytelling work together.
Whether you're preparing for college auditions, professional auditions, an upcoming musical, or just singing to your bathroom mirror, I'd love to help you discover that balance. Together, we'll explore how to make every song feel authentic, emotionally connected, and technically supported, so you can tell the story with confidence while letting your voice do what it does best.
